James' Avatar

It's been ten years since James Cameron and That Ship hoved into view and began to take over the world. Ten years! That's a entire decade of having to endure Celine Dion's endless warbling. Quite unbelievable. Although for some, the news that Cameron is now back in the director's chair and about to begin shooting his long-talked about sci-fi epic Avatar, will come as more of a surprise.

Avatar will tell the story of a wounded ex-marine who's reluctance to utilise the resources of an exotic planet leads him to join the natives in the battle for survival. The movie will combine live action photography and new image-based performance capture techniques. Sam Worthington (Somersault, Dirty Deeds) and Zoe Saldana (Pirates Of The Carribean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl, The Terminal) will fill the lead roles and Peter Jackson's WETA are on board to provide the visual effects. Oh, and the whole thing is going to be shot in 3-D ready for a 2009 release. It's going to be big...

Alan's Musical

When he’s not creeping around Hogwarts with his special potions and dour expression, Alan Rickman has been exercising his vocal cords in preparation for his role in Dreamworks/Warner Bros’ Sweeney Todd. The British actor will play the role of a lecherous judge – very Mr. Rickman. The film goes into production later this month and will be directed by Tim Burton. Johnny Depp, Sacha Baron Cohen and – shock horror – Helena Bonham Carter will all star in this tale of the murderous, yet tuneful, London barber.
