Mickey Rourke has signed on to star in a remake of Mona Lisa, the Bob Hoskins-starring Neil Jordan film of 1986. But fear not: Rourke will not be portraying Da Vinci's masterpiece: it's the story of an ex-convict and the call girl he works for.

Eva Green's in talks to play the role of Simone, the high-priced call girl with whom Rourke's George gets a job after emerging from prison and learning that his standing in the underworld has been reduced to nothing. The pair initially butt heads but later form a friendship, leading Simone to involve George in a search for a missing friend of her's, which brings George into conflict with gangster Mortwell.

Simone's role was originally played by Cathy Tyson, with Michael Caine as Mortwell. This time around, Larry Clark (Kids) is directing and writing, so expect this one not to pull any punches.
