Matthew McConaughey has signed on for the movie adaptation of legal thriller The Lincoln Lawyer, which should give most of you flashbacks to his big break, A Time To Kill, as he returns to the legal profession.

This time he'll play low-level criminal defence attorney Mickey Haller, a "Lincoln lawyer" so-called because he is so low on the ladder that he essentially works out of his car. Haller is a tarnished example of the breed, who knows just how to manipulate the system and who to give a backhander too. His luck appears to be changing when he lands a wealthy client, who even appears to be innocent. But the case soon switches, and Mickey finds his life soon in as much danger as his reputation.

It's based on the book by Michael Connelly, so while the premise may sound Grisham-esque, it's really not in the details. Still, it sounds like a good fit for McConaughey after a string of rom-coms. There's no director or screenwriter attached as yet, however, so it may be a little while before we see this one.
