As if he didn’t already have enough on his plate between juggling directing assignments and producing eleventy bajillion other movies, Martin Scorsese has decided to jump aboard Silver Ghost as producer, a film that chronicles a love story unfolding around the origin of Rolls-Royce cars.

The movie already has a producing team in place, with Lord Richard Attenborough and Anthony Haas collaborating to bring to life the tale of Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, who was having an affair with his secretary, Eleanor Thornton, against his family’s wishes. Thornton would go on to be the model for the famous Rolls-Royce hood ornament The Spirit Of Ecstasy, leaving a lasting legacy of love – but also controversy.

"When I read the story of Silver Ghost, I was mesmerized. I immediately thought: this is a picture that has to be made,” Scorsese says. “And when I was asked to come aboard as a Producer alongside Richard Attenborough and Anthony Haas, I didn't hesitate for a moment."

"Martin Scorsese is a giant of the cinema and I am thrilled to be collaborating with Marty and Anthony,” says Attenborough. “What a team to bring this extraordinary story to life."

There is no director or writer attached yet, but Scorsese’s involvement should help that along, even though he doesn’t currently plan to call the shots himself. He’ll next direct The Wolf Of Wall Street, his latest film with Leonardo DiCaprio.
