Martin Lawrence, star of Big Momma's House and Black Knight, is producing and hoping to star in a new film called Back To America, which sounds like Eddie Murphy's Coming To America but in reverse.

The premise of this film is that a working-class guy from Queens discovers that he is heir to an African country and travels there to claim his birthright. So it's entirely distinct from the John Landis / Eddie Murphy film where a prince who is heir to an African country travels to Queens to conceal his birthright behind a working-class facade and discover a bride for himself.

We'd kinda like to believe that this is a sequel, starting where Coming to America left off, with Shari Headley's Lisa McDowell running off in horror when she realised that her wedding dress was in fact The Blob (check it out if you don't believe us) and having Eddie Murphy's son back home in Queens. Only Lawrence is too old for that role, so we suspect this is merely a similar concept, and probably a less funny one.

Lawrence himself came up with the pitch and is producing, but it's not yet confirmed whether he'll star - although that's not surprising given that there is as yet no script or director either. In the meantime, he's due to star in Disney's Wild Hogs sequel, so you Lawrence addicts out there can get your fix.
