That's a film, not his salary

Ready for the first credit-crunch comedy? Well, director Mark Waters seems to be, with the news that he's in talks to direct Minimum Wage. From the synopsis below, you'll see that it's less a film and more a blueprint as to how we should treat the various bankers and hedge fund managers who played such a large role in messing up the world economy.

The script, by Tegan West (The Cave)and Scott Atkinson, centres on a corrupt corporate executive who is convicted of fraud and sentenced to a year of living in the community he bankrupted on minimum wage. There, we have a sneaking suspicion that he will learn the error of his ways and become a better person, but only time will tell.

Waters, the man who directed Mean Girls, most recently made The Spiderwick Chronicles and the upcoming The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, so this marks something of a change of pace for him. Let's hope the script is as smart as Tina Fey's Mean Girls effort, because then we could be on to something.
