Maria Bello Joins The Mummy 3

Well, this is unusual. Following Rachel Weisz's decision not to reprise her role as Evelyn in the third film in the Mummy saga, the film has now picked up Maria Bello. In the new film, Bello, Brendan Fraser and Luke Ford, as their now all grows up son, head to China and the Himalayas where they do battle with a shapeshifting mummy and a former Chinese Emperor (Jet Li), who's been cursed by a sorceress (Michelle Yeoh).

Bello's fantastic in films like A History of Violence and Thank You For Smoking, so we're all for this as a casting switcheroo. Hopefully the material will be worthy of its new leading lady.
