James Bond's 22nd trip to the big screen has flirted with more directors than a drunken starlet. Tony Scott, Roger Michell, Jonathan Mostow and Alex Proyas have all been mentioned in connection with the movie, but the man who will actually call the shots when shooting starts near the end of the year is...Marc Forster.

Forster seems an unusual choice, but a very interesting one. He's not known for anything approaching action (although he dabbled with it in Stay), but is a director who can wring incredible performances from any actor (he directed Halle Berry to an Oscar and brought Freddie Highmore to the world) and makes films packed with emotion and a definite visual style. He seems to fit comfortably with the new, more emotional, but definitely no cuddlier Bond.

Also, vitally, he is a director with several fantastic films under his belt (both Finding Neverland and Stranger Than Fiction were among the best films of their respective years and truly individual) who seems to be able to turn his hand to most genres - drama, fantasy, comedy. So can he tackle action and follow what is arguably the best Bond movie ever. Yeah, we said it.

So, what do you think of the choice for Bond 22?
