Len Wiseman To Direct Motorcade

There’s nothing that fills Empire’s heart with joy more than writing the words, ‘Len Wiseman has signed on to direct’, and so imagine the paroxysms of pleasure we experienced when the news broke that – yes! - Len Wiseman has signed on to direct the action thriller, Motorcade.

As you might have guessed from the title, it’s about a terrorist attack on the President of the United State’s motorcade as it travels through Los Angeles, which makes it sound like Die Hard meets In the Line Of Fire. And that, friends, means it could be - could be - potentially - potentially - awesome.

Wiseman has been trying to get various projects, including Gears Of War, off the ground since his last film, Die Hard 4.0, and he may have been attracted to Motorcade by the Die Hard-y vibe.

Of course, dozens of films have attempted the Die Hard on a/in a/up a… template since the original and best in 1988, but the fact that Billy Ray – the intelligent writer/director of Shattered Glass and Breach – has written this gives us cause to hope that it won’t be a cheap knock-off.

Ray rewrote the original script, by Hans Bauer and Craig Mitchell, while Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald will produce for DreamWorks.
