If you haven't read Richard Matheson's brilliant novel I Am Legend – and you should; it's timeless and spooky and really short and will only take about 20 minutes to get through – there's a good chance you will have little idea of the central premise of the new Will Smith movie from this teaser.

There's not a vampire to be seen (that's not a spoiler, by the way, before you get all tizzied), despite this being the story of a man who may be the last surviving human in a world that's succumbed to a bitey, blood-sucky plague. But there are lots and lots of very eerie shots of New York bereft of bargain hunting tourists, yuppies shouting "I'm walking here!" and just people in general. We do get a sneak peak of what is reported to be the most expensive scene in history, however, as Brooklyn Bridge is blown up to stop anyone getting off Manhattan island.

It's said that Francis Lawrence's take on Matheson's book takes a few liberties with the original story, but this is looking pretty classy to us. What do you think?
