“Judgement day,” says Mark Wahlberg during one of the few moments this new TV spot trailer for Transformers: Age Of Extinction stops pummelling your eyes with giant robots fighting or smashing things. But the actual judgement day for the film – when audiences will get a look at the whole thing – will be coming earlier than we thought in the UK, thanks to the release date moving up to July 5.
Age Of Extinction, as you may know by now, is set a few years after Dark Of The Moon’s big Chicago battle and a bruised, battered humanity is understandably sick of the destruction caused by the rampaging robots. Most of the Transformers on both sides have either left the planet or are in hiding, and governments are tracking down the remaining survivors to exploit their technology.
But when the latest round of experiments unleashes something very powerful and very dangerous, it’s up to Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and the rest of the Autobot squad to team up with inventor Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg), his daughter Tessa (Nicola Peltz) and other humans to stop the threats from both the likes of official Harold Attinger (Kelsey Grammer) and invaders from space.
With Jack Reynor, T.J. Miller, Stanley Tucci, Thomas Lennon, Titus Welliver, Peter Cullen, Ken Watanabe, John Goodman, Sophia Myles, Frank Welker, Bingbing Li and John DiMaggio among the cast, Transformers: Age Of Extinctio****n lands, as mentioned on July 5 here following a June 27 launch in the States.
