Last year, Orphan Black came out of nowhere to deliver one of the better shows to grace screens on either side of the pond, while it also established lead Tatiana Maslany as an actress to watch – especially since she played approximately 79 separate characters (okay, seven, but there will probably be more now) in the sci-fi thriller series. The second season is on its way and a new teaser for the fresh run is online.
The first season introduced us to the basic concept and to Sarah Manning (Maslany), a streetwise foster child who witnessed the suicide of a woman who looked exactly like her. Taking on the woman’s identity, she soon falls down a rabbit hole of lies, scientific tinkering and danger as she realises that she’s one of several clones, all with a purpose and all trying to figure out what happened.
Late in the season, Sarah and the others finally seemed to find some answers, but their discovery also raised the stakes and made those looking to stop them that much more lethal. Season two appears to tear things open even wider, with new threats and potential new love interests for at least one of the clones.
With Dylan Bruce, Skyler Wexler and Maria Doyle Kennedy on board the new season kicks off on April 19 in Canada and the States. We’ll have to wait and see when it makes it over here.
