Now that we know Sherlock will finally be back on our screens on January 1 after two long years, the Beeb are going to some pains to make sure we don’t all suddenly get struck with mystery amnesia and forget that fact. To help keep our memories jogged more than a collie on a treadmill, here comes a new, longer, interactive trailer for series 3.
It’s still more about mood than plot, but we do get a few teasing nuggets, including the fact that Martin Freeman’s John Watson isn’t too pleased about Sherlock having faked his own death and that he has, in Conan Doyle fashion, moved on from Baker Street to focus on his own life, as Sherlock sniffily dismisses. Oh, and that there’s a new serious threat emerging.
Check out the trailer, loaded with floaty, Sherlock-style messages that link to new images, extra footage and a make-your-own-otter-collage homepage (we’ll leave you to guess which one isn’t real), which also features appearances from Mark Gatiss’ Mycroft, Una Stubbs’ Mrs. Watson, Rupert Graves DI Lestrade and Louise Brealey’s Molly.
The first episode of the new series is The Empty Hearse, arriving as promised on New Year’s Day, followed by The Sign Of Three on Sunday, January 5 and His Last Vow on January 12.
P.S. If you're a fan of the show, you'll definitely want to get your hands on an iPad and download the latest issue of **Empire (the one with Transformers: Age Of Extinction on the front). In it, you'll enjoy a 360-degree tour of 221B Baker Street, with audio bonus features whenever you tap on a prop. Plus, there's an exclusive photoshoot with show creators Gatiss and Moffat, which only mentions hardcore porn once. Here's a taster – of the feature, not the hardcore porn – below.
