Taking its cue from the recent UK promo, the latest trailer for On The Road aimed at our American cousins features a similar aesthetic, with a passage from the book read over some jaunty jazz and images from the film. Take a look below courtesy of Yahoo Movies.
Originally crafted as an autobiographical travelogue by Jack Kerouac, it morphed into something more like a novel when he switched the names. The style – which the movie has adopted – is a stream-of-consciousness that the book is most known for.
With Sam Riley taking on the role of protagonist Sal Paradise (the Kerouac stand-in), Garrett Hedlund plays Dean Moriarty, Kristen Stewart is the free-spirited MaryLou, Kirsten Dunst is Camille, Tom Sturridge is Carlo Marx and Viggo Mortensen is Old Bull Lee, a character not-so-loosely based on William Burroughs.
We’ll get to take the trip on October 12. America will have to wait until December 21.
