If department stores and supermarkets are to be believed, it’s never too early to start thinking about Christmas, so we can just about forgive Snoopy and Woodstock for decorating the canine superstar’s kennel in the latest trailer for The Peanuts Movie.

Yes, as many could have predicted after yesterday’s new pictures, the new promo from Charlie Brown and company – which, we’re told, was “leaked” by Snoopy, but arrives by 20th Century Fox’s YouTube channel, so the pooch is unlikely to be sent off to the pound any time soon – has arrived.

It’s focused on Snoopy and Woodstock initially before segueing into one of Snoop’s typically imaginative flights of fantasy as he soars around Paris before being brought rudely back down to Earth. Then we get the briefest glimpse of Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts gang. It’s animated in a style that manages to blend the charm of the Charles Schulz-spawned ‘toons that inspired such affection and a relatively warm CG update. The use of the original sounds for Snoopy and Woodstock doesn’t hurt either. There’s not a lot to see here, but with the film only due a little over a year from now, it’s no bad idea to keep something back.

With Steve Martino directing, Schulz’s son Craig as a producer and writer and Paul Feig executive producing this one, **The Peanuts Movie **is out on December 21, 2015.
