With two trailers already out there for David Fincher’s adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s thriller novel Gone Girl, the film's appearance on the cover of the latest **Empire seems a good time to bring out a third. What luck, then, that a short new promo has arrived…
Gone Girl, which Flynn herself scripted and which alters some details from the books, boasts a central mystery revolving the seemingly blissful but privately strained marriage of Nick (Ben Affleck) and Amy (Rosamund Pike) Dunne. The two are crumbling under financial pressure and weighed down by their move back to his old hometown. When Amy goes missing, Nick initially launches the campaign to find her, but the fickle finger of suspicion soon starts to point to him as the evidence – not the least of which are Amy’s scared diary entries – piles up and starts to suggest that he might have had something to do with it.
In the new trailer, we find out that Nick really doesn’t know his wife as well as a husband should, and that he recently upped her life insurance policy, something he claims she asked him to do… It’s really not looking good for Nick.
With Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry, Kim Dickens, Patrick Fugit, Scoot McNairy, Boyd Holbrook, Emily Ratajkowski, Sela Ward, Missi Pyle, Casey Wilson, Carrie Coon and Kathleen Rose Perkins among the cast, **Gone Girl **is out on October 3. The new issue of Empire, meanwhile, hits shelves this Thursday and boasts a wealth of preview information about upcoming movies and TV shows.
