Sly! Arnie! Ford! Gibson! Snipes! Statham! Crews! It’s likely that you already know what to expect from T**he Expendables 3 **(possibly aside from the appearance of Frasier Crane, cementing 2014 as the year of Added Grammer) and this new trailer serves up exactly what the franchise has come to rely on. So prepare for more booms, bangs, knives, smirks, bullets, planes and choppers. Subtlety? You’ll find it cowering in a corner wearing a flak jacket.
The Expendables 3 finds our heroes targeted by an old friend turned vicious enemy. Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), who co-founded the original group with Stallone’s Barney Ross, has since become an arms trader and decides to take out the gang. But when Barney recruits some fresh blood to help tackle the threat, the younglings are inconveniently captured, which means the regular blend of duffers, punch-chuckers and dudes (including some new / old recruits such as Wesley Snipes and Harrison “I fear no door” Ford) must ride to the rescue or die trying.
But the plot, of course, is entirely secondary, serving merely to let the regulars and their pals blow shit up real good like. At this point, you’re either on the Expendabus or you’ve long since decided against it; we doubt this new promo will convince anyone to switch sides. It all kicks off in the UK on August 14.
