Krysten Ritter Set For Veronica Mars Movie

Though the Veronica Mars** movie more than beat its original budget target on Kickstarter, questions remained about which stars would return besides the core cast (and even then not all were initially confirmed). As creator / writer and film director Rob Thomas prepares to shoot this week, he’s been sending daily casting updates revealing the names of actors returning for a reunion both off and on screen. The list now includes Krysten Ritter, Tina Majorino, Ryan Hansen, Daran Norris, Brandon Hillcock, Kevin Sheridan and Jonathan Chesner.

Thomas has slowly but surely assembled most of the original show’s cast to complement returning veterans Kristen Bell, Enrico Colatoni, Percy Daggs III, Francis Capra and Jason Dohring. Given that the plot of the new movie focuses on a high school reunion for the former teen ‘tec, the gathering of actors makes sense.

Ritter will return as Gia Goodman, a quirky type with a penchant for speaking her mind, no matter the outcome. Majorino will be Cindy “Mac” Mackenzie, a computer hacker friend of our heroine who often helped her with cases. Hansen is back as cocky rich boy Dick Casablancas, whose family has a tragic connection with Veronica.

Hillcock is set as the long-suffering lawman Deputy Sacks, Sheridan will be ne’er-do-well Sean Frederich and Chesney is coming back as pot-happy horticulturalist Corny. Finally, we have Daran Norris (who some might know thanks to his voice work as Spottswoode from** Team America**), who plays sleazy private eye Cliff McCormack.

With cameras about to roll, the film should be on screen next year.
