It's a race against time, one man against the system: Danish director Ole Bornedal has signed on to direct an adaptation of Dean Koontz' book The Husband, a race-against-time thriller.

The novel sees an ordinary guy, a landscape gardener, receive a call from someone who says he has kidnapped our hero's wife and wants $2 million to give her back. When our gardener complains, not unreasonably, that he's a frickin' gardener and doesn't have that kind of money*, the kidnapper simply replies that, "You'll find a way". Ooooh, high concept.

Bornedal's also set to rewrite the script, last drafted by **Fracture **and Mad Money's Glenn Gers, so expect to see this sometime next year. Ish. Meanwhile, two of Bornedal's Danish films - The Substitute and Just Another Love Story - have been picked up to be remade by Sam Raimi's Ghost House Pictures.

*Maybe they confused him with a plumber?
