You might think that Hot Fuzz would have taught Simon Pegg to watch out for knife-inflicted hand wounds, especially since he was on the receiving end of a blade from a mad Santa Claus played by Peter Jackson. But no, he’s still susceptible if the evidence from this first, red band trailer for comic thriller Kill Me Three Times is any indication, which has arrived bearing lashings of violence and lots of swearing.

Pegg plays Charlie Wolfe, a mercurial assassin hired to take out a beautiful woman (Alice Braga) in a sun-baked surfing town. But he soon discovers that he’s not the only person trying to kill her and he’s quickly entangled in three strange tales of murder, blackmail and revenge.

There’s Sullivan Stapleton as a gambling addict who is looking to score a hefty pay-out to settle his debts through a risky life insurance scam, Teresa Palmer as a Lady Macbeth type scheming her way through a small town, Callan Mulvey as a jealous beach club owner, Luke Hemsworth as a surfer fighting for the woman he loves and Bryan Brown as a corrupt cop with a thing for bribes.

With Kriv Stenders calling the shots from James McFarland’s script,** Kill Me Three Times** will hit the US on March 26 via digital distribution before arriving in cinemas on April 10. There’s no sign of a UK release date yet.
