Kick-Ass Gets A US Distributor

One of the big hits of Movie-Con II this weekend was the extensive footage we showed from Kick-Ass, the Matthew Vaughn comic-book film about superheroes who aren't. So it's great to hear that the independently produced film has finally landed a distributor for the US - where Lionsgate will release the film - as a big step towards getting people to actually, y'know, see it.

The film sets up its real-world credentials immediately, with a guy in a high-tech winged suit jumping off a tall building...and crashing to his death. From then, things only get more outrageous, as teenager Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson) starts to fight crime with the benefit of no training, no abilities and no special weaponry. It's fair to say that things don't go smoothly for him.

With no trailer as yet, you're just going to have to trust us when we say that the footage we saw was awesome (read all about it in the Movie-Con II report) and that this is good news. We've got our sources out looking for news of a UK distributor and release date; more on that when we get it.
