For Johnny Depp, papa really is a Rolling Stone at last. It’s been sort of an open secret for a while now, but Bill Nighy has finally gone on record and admitted that Keith Richards has shot his cameo in Pirates Of The Caribbean: At Worlds End.
According to Nighy, who wasn’t present when Richards was filmed, the Stones guitar-thrasher was a little liquidated by the time the production team retrieved him from his trailer and he required a little support from Gore Verbinski. “If you'd wanted straight, then you got the wrong man," Richards is said to have told the director.
Depp and Richards apparently got on like the proverbial house with fire issues, and Keith was kind enough to gift his on-screen son with the steps built specially for the rock star’s trailer, scrawled with the message “A step too far.” Yes Virginia, there is a drunken, stumbling Jack Sparrow influence in the third Pirates movie.
So what’s next? Surely Mick Jagger donning a gorilla suit for the planned Jungle Cruise film.
