We're going to have to assume that Sam Mendes is a highly superstitious person. How else to explain the fact that he seems to be attempting to reunite the entire cast of Titanic, highest grossing film in history, for his new film, Revolutionary Road? Because they're all great actors, you say? Well, yes that's possible too, we suppose...
To a cast that already includes the marvellous Kate Winslet and the equally marvellous Leonardo DiCaprio, Mendes has added Kathy Bates, who played The Unsinkable Molly Brown in Titanic. In this film she'll play Mrs. Givings, a woman who sells a young couple (DiCaprio and Winslet) their home and introduces them to the town. The film, based on a 1961 novel by Richard Yates, revolves around the young couple and how their marriage detiorates.
Three others have also joined the cast. David Harbour, Michael Shannon and Zoe Kazan will play a neighbour, Bates' son and DiCaprio's secretary respectively. None of these three was in Titanic, which completely ruins our earlier theory. Thanks a lot, jerks.
