Empire's always had a soft spot for Justin Long – despite those Mac ads, he's a talented and naturally funny actor – and so we're happy to report that he's signed on to co-star in the dark psychological thriller, After.life, alongside the already-cast Christina Ricci and the great Liam Neeson.

Long will play Paul, the boyfriend of Ricci's character, a young woman who may or may not have been targeted by a nefarious undertaker (Neeson) intent on burying her alive.

Josh Charles has also joined the cast of the movie, which starts shooting next Tuesday in New York.

Sounds like Agnieska Wojtowicz-Vosloo's movie has more than a hint of Hitchcock to it (not to mention a pinch of George Sluizer's The Vanishing) – and that may not be a bad thing. It's certainly got a cracking cast. Neeson, as Batman Begins proved, can do suavely sinister in his sleep, Ricci is always good value and Long, despite being best-known for comedy, started off in horror with Jeepers Creepers. And he'll next be seen as another long-suffering boyfriend in Sam Raimi's Drag Me To Hell, so this may be familiar territory for him.

And no, in case you're wondering, Wojtowicz-Vosloo is no relation to Arnold Vosloo, who played The Mummy in, erm, The Mummy movies. Glad to have cleared that one up.
