Judge Dredd 3D Has A Start Date

You may remember the news a few days ago that Judge Dredd** is returning to our screens with a new director, Pete Travis, and a script by Alex Garland. Well, following the official announcement of the project in Cannes yesterday, we also have a start date and shooting location: the last quarter of this year, in Johannesburg.

Comic-book co-creator (with Carlos Ezquerra) John Wagner said, "Alex Garland’s script is faithful to the original concept that made Judge Dredd a favourite bad-ass hero. It’s a high-octane slay ride through the dark underbelly of the vast future city. A fan pleaser. With their track record, I have every faith in Alex Garland, Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich."

We're taking that as code for "won't be like the Sylvester Stallone film". The budget's set at a lean $45million (which would rule out a Stallone anyway) - so who do you think should play Dredd?
