Joe Cornish, one half of Adam & Joe, screenwriter of Tintin and the oft-delayed Ant-Man, is set to make his directorial debut on Attack the Block, an alien invasion film set in South London.

Now as all those of you who live in / have visited South London, or who have seen it on TV, will know, it's not as hospitable to aliens as Devil's Tower or Elliott's hometown in E.T. And sure enough, this film sees a group of hoodies (we nearly called them a "gang", but we're trying to be PC) left to fight off the alien invaders until Doctor Who shows up.

All joking aside, we're kinda stoked about this. It's about time someone pointed out that not everyone wearing a jumper with a hood attached is a vicious thug out to kill all the country's AGA owners. And that their 'mad skillz' at surviving on London's mean streets might come in handy should aliens invade.

There's no shooting date yet, but fingers crossed Cornish will do as well as his mate Edgar Wright as he makes the same transition to the big screen.
