Yesterday was Star Wars Day and, though many were expecting some new, huge announcement from J.J. Abrams and the team working on Star Wars: Episode VII, we get the idea that the casting breakdown for the film rather stole a march on any planned news for the weekend. Still, Abrams and co-writer/producer Lawrence Kasdan uploaded a “video selfie” to wish us all a happy May the 4th.
In true Abrams style, there really wasn’t much else to the video besides the fact they’re both missing their families as they continue work in London. Oh, and that casting is continuing on the film, which concurs with the reports that surfaced in the hours since the big casting announcement on April 30.
So… a total lack of big reveals in the new video and all we know for certain about the new film, aside from its setting years after **Return Of The Jedi, **is that original trilogy stalwarts Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker will share the screen with new recruits John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Andy Serkis and Max von Sydow.
More will hopefully be revealed soon, though if J.J. truly had his way, the first trailer would emerge the week after the film comes out. Said release date, in case it had somehow slipped your mind, is December 18 next year.
