You’d think by now that people would have seen enough movies where strange old houses hold terrible secrets, and that when the estate agent shows you what could be your dream house but gets all sketchy if they ask about horrifying downsides, they’d know to look elsewhere. But then how would we get chillers like House At The End Of The Street? The latest clip from the movie, featuring a scared Jennifer Lawrence, is online and can be seen below.
Lawrence plays Elissa, who moves with her mum Sarah (Elisabeth Shue) to what they think is the perfect location in a small town. Sarah and Elissa are looking to start over after Sarah’s divorce, but the new place carries its own challenges. Such as the warning that in the house next door, the daughter of the family killed her parents and then vanished, leaving only her brother Ryan (Max Thieriot) alive. Despite warnings, Elissa is drawn to Ryan, but can’t shake the feeling that something is very, very wrong.
House At The End Of The Street (which keeps being shortened to HATES, an idea that’s cool for hashtags but might come back to haunt it if the box office figures don’t work out and headline writers go with “Everyone HATES it”) is set for release on September 21. Check out a featurette with Lawrence talking up the movie below.
