Jennifer Garner loves Butter (steady now, no sniggering at the back). In fact, she loves Butter so much she made the movie.

Ish. Garner has signed on to star in Butter, a rom-com from Mandate, the company behind Juno. And we all know how that turned out.

Garner may also produce the movie, with Michael De Luca, while the likes of Gary Ross and Craig Gillespie are circling the project with a view to directing.

The plot revolves around a young orphan who becomes obsessed with the low-profile art of butter-sculpting (apparently, this does exist; Google at your peril), and eventually ends up in a competition, pitted against the wife of a retired butter-sculpting champion.

Expect simply tons and tons of quirk, then. Jason Micallef wrote the screenplay, his first. And we're guessing that Garner will play the wife, but there's no official word yet. More casting will surely follow.
