Jason Reitman is turning his satirist's eye to the private schools and the mores of the super-wealthy. According to the Hollywood Reporter, he's optioned the rights to Elliot Allagash under his Right Of Way Films banner.

The debut novel by SNL writer Simon Rich, Elliot Allagash tells the story of how Seymour Herson, the least popular student at Manhattan's exclusive Glendale School, becomes school hero with a little help from Elliot Allagash, heir to the country's largest fortune and all-round deviant genius.

Reitman will be producing but no word on whether he'll be getting behind the camera too. No word from the Reitman Twitter feed either, which focused more on revelling in the LA Lakers' NBA triumph. Currently, his upcoming projects include Labor Day, an adaptation of Joyce Maynard's novel, and Jeff Who Lives At Home, the next movie by indie doyens the Duplass Brothers, but he's yet to commit to his next directorial gig.

By the Rushmore-meets-**Heathers **sound of it, **Elliot Allagash **could be tailor-made for his wry, worldly eye. The script will be adapted by Rich from his own novel.
