Despite being long rumoured as 30 Days Of Night and Hard Candy director David Slade’s next project, the nuclear threat thriller Unthinkable is now moving forward without him according to Variety.

Gregor Jordan, the guy who helmed the Joaquin Phoenix vehicle Buffalo Soldiers and the upcoming Bret Easton Ellis adaptation The Informers, is now the man set to shout orders at Samuel L Jackson in what is being touted as a taut and intelligent actioner.

Unthinkable centres on a major problem for the United States as three nuclear devices and one nasty terrorist with his finger on the big red button threaten to destroy the land of liberty. With only two days until the very big bang, it’s up to a black-ops interrogator and a female FBI agent to stop America from going boom.

What role Jackson will be playing is yet to be announced along with other casting decisions, but Jordan’s casting decisions on The Informers (which includes the likes of Kim Basinger, Billy Bob Thornton, Winona Ryder and Mickey Rourke) implies that he may be able to pull an equally interesting roll call to his follow-up project.
