If you went to see The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug yesterday you may already have seen this, but the Interstellar teaser trailer has now landed online as well, and here it is. Feast your eyes on a few tantalising clips from Christopher Nolan's new film below, and try to figure out which are clues to the plot and which are just establishing the mood...
Featuring only a few seconds of actual movie footage (showing an intense, teary Matthew McConaughey driving through cornfields), this is a teaser in the truest sense; more of a mood-piece, if you like, or the long-game set up.
McConaughey’s newsreel monologue is a voice from the future, a damaged world where NASA is a memory, and it both celebrates the urges to explore and innovate, and laments their demise. That gives the final shot of an ascending rocket real impact and a powerful sense of anticipation and pure optimism — complemented no end by what sounds to be another pulse-raising Hans Zimmer score. If nothing else, this first glimpse at the new Nolan glows with the promise of a truly epic journey to come.
Interstellar also stars Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, Wes Bentley, Casey Affleck, Michael Caine, David Oyelowo, Topher Grace, Mackenzie Foy, John Lithgow and Ellen Burstyn. It hits UK cinemas on November 7 next year - so there's less than year to go! Woo hoo!
