Good news for fans of gruesome horror (and we’re not talking about the Australian batting collapse at the WACA this morning – go, Monty!): Eli Roth’s Hostel Part II finally has a US release date!
June 8 will see the terror sequel, which sees three young American ladies fall foul of the notorious Slovakian murder factory that we saw in the first Hostel, go up against cutesy animated movie, Surf’s Up, and Ocean’s Thirteen, which stars big-name actors such as Eddie Jemison, Carl Reiner and Casey Affleck, so it’s a sign of growing confidence in not only the pulling power of horror at the box office, but also Roth’s burgeoning appeal as an above-the-title director.
Empire was on set of the Prague-shot movie earlier in the year and can confirm that, while it promises to be as grisly as the first – anyone who’s seen the teaser poster that debuted yesterday can testify to that - there’s also an upping of the psychological element this time around, as Roth also focuses on two American businessmen who sign up with the mysterious organisation behind the derelict dungeon of death.
More on Hostel Part II as we get it. No word on a UK release date yet, but it’ll probably be much the same. Oh, and thanks to a certain Mr. E. Roth, who gave us the heads-up...
