From Brazilian parrot to drug mule, Jesse Eisenberg is keeping us all guessing post The Social Network. His next movie, Holy Rollers, gives him a chance to show once again what a reliable performer he is, with a narrative arc that carries him from an orthodox upbring straight onto the Interpol database. Check out the film's new UK trailer below to see what we mean.
Eisenberg plays Sam Gold, a young Orthodox Jewish man from Brooklyn who's seduced into work as a 'medicine' trafficker by the well-connected Yosef (Justin Bartha). Persuaded to smuggle ecstasy from Amsterdam back into the US, he's happy to find a definite upside to the world of crime. Unfortunately, said upside is also the girlfriend of a heavily-armed Israeli gangster.
Directed by debut filmmaker Kevin Asch, Holy Rollers was shot in 2009 and made its Sundance bow last year. It's based on a true story and should call on Eisenberg's wry humour in spades.
Holy Rollers is out on May 13. Check out its rather ace poster here.
