First unveiled back at last year’s Comic-Con, this first look at the second shot at bringing the Square Enix Hitman games to the big screen, Hitman: Agent 47 has arrived online for your eyeballing pleasure. Check out Rupert Friend taking over the mantle of the mysterious and deadly Agent 47 below.

This time around, the focus is even more on the Agent programme that created the numerically named killing machine, genetically engineered to be stronger, faster, smarter and frankly better than us mere mortals who don’t spend their days with near shaved heads thinking up ways to kill people (except possibly Empire’s digital editor-in-chief).

His latest target is a mega-corporation that plans to unlock the secret of Agent 47's past to create an army of killers whose powers surpass even his own. Teaming up with a young woman who may hold the secret to overcoming their powerful and clandestine enemies, 47 confronts stunning revelations about his own origins and squares off in an epic battle with his deadliest foe. With Rupert Friend as the main man, the film also features Hannah Ware, Zachary Quinto, Ciaran Hinds, Thomas Kretschmann, Emilio Rivera and Dan Bakkedahl, who you see being roundly outsmarted by Agent 47 at the start of the trailer.

Aleksander Bach is behind the camera for this one and the trailer promises a lot of what you might expect from a Hitman outing: 47 showing off his scientifically enhanced set of skills and lots of things going boom. Hitman: Agent 47 sneaks into UK cinemas on August 28.
