As the rain poured down over Leicester Square, it looked as if it might be a High School Washout. That is until Disney hit the show-time switch, and revealed they control the sunshine.
As the clouds parted just in time, a troupe of Wildcat basketball boys and cheerleader girls shimmied down the red carpet- whipping the crowd into a frenzy to the tune of Get’cha Head In The Game.
HSM stars Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale and Corbin Bleu worked the (slightly soggy) red carpet, joined by Disney impresario Kenny Ortega, bringing a smile to even the most po-faced members of the media scrum.
On the final stop of the High School Musical 3: Senior Year, European promotional tour, the young stars maintained the sparkling professionalism associated with the current stable of Disney talent. With not a hair out of place, and perfectly mega-watt smiles, they worked a wild line-up of screaming fans decked from head to toe in HSM branded merchandise.
As hundreds gathered to catch a moment with sweethearts Troy and Gabriella (played by real-life couple Efron and Hudgens), probably the loudest chants were heard for “baddie” Sharpay, played by Ashley Tisdale. Also on the red carpet for the first time, was new addition to the class Tiara Gold, played by British actress Jemma McKenzie-Brown.
High School Musical 3, out Wednesday, October 22, is the first in the franchise to have a theatrical release, and advance bookings in the UK have topped the record set by Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
We took winner of our HSM competition, 8-year-old Aurora from Glasgow, to the red carpet to interview all of her favourite stars. Click the video below to see how she got on.
