Hans Zimmer Forms Amazing Spider-Man 2 Scoring Supergroup

It would be enough for most films to land, say, Hans Zimmer to work on the score. But that clearly isn’t enough for Marc Webb and The Amazing Spider-Man 2, because the director, along with Zimmer, has formed a supergroup to help score the new superhero film. Take a bow Pharrell Williams, The Smiths' Johnny Marr, Incubus' Michael Einziger and Eurythmics' Dave Stewart…

Webb tweeted a picture (see above) of Zimmer, Einziger, Marr and Williams in the studio, and Zimmer has gone on the record to explain the genesis behind the unlikely team-up.

“Marc and I were talking about Spider-Man, and as the word got out, so many of our friends and musicians started calling us up, wanting to be a part of it, because they love Spider-Man. That was the thing that united all of us – the great love for Spider-Man. With all of these hugely talented people wanting to join us, it was Marc who said, ‘Why not start a band?’ Marc and I have had a great start jamming with everybody, and we still have a few surprises up our sleeve.”

Please say it's a new cover of Going For Gold's theme. Pleeease...

Almost all of the new team has worked with Zimmer before aside from Stewart, who has his own filmmaking career outside from music. As for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, it features the likes of Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Sally Field, Paul Giamatti, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan and Sally Field. It’ll hit our screens – now with some all-star musical accompaniment – on April 18 next year.
