After the runaway success of the snappily titled Hannah Montana/ Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour 3D movie earlier this year, Disney annouced today that filming has started on Hannah Montana: The Movie, with Miley Cyrus once again starring as the 'regular' teen who also doubles up as pop star Hannah Montana.
For those of you too old to have seen the show on which these films are based, they're a bit like Jem and the Holograms without the magic earrings and 80s hair. Unlike the last film, this is more feature film than concert movie - although apparently it will be a "music-filled comedy adventure". WIth Hannah Montana's soaring popularity threatening to take over Miley's life, her dad (Billy Ray Cyrus) encourages her to return to her home town and learn what's really important. We're sure you can guess the rest.
The series regulars are joined by Barry Bostwick and Vanessa Williams, among others, and Serendipity's Peter Chelsom is directing. Expect to see this in spring 2009, unless Miley Cyrus flashes her back during production and the whole thing gets shut down in a storm in a teacup of moral outrage.
