If you’re (still) eagerly anticipating David Fincher’s long-gestating adaptation of Dark Horse comic The Goon or Kevin Smith’s hockey film(s) Hit Somebody, we have bad news: this is not the trailer for either of those. It’s actually the red band promo for Goon, the hockey movie starring Seann William Scott. You can see it below – but be cautioned that it features punching, blood and Canadians swearing.
With a script by Superbad co-writer Evan Goldberg and Jay Baruchel (who also co-stars), Goon finds Scott as Doug Glatt, a bouncer more used to talking with his fists than his mouth. Largely shunned by his brainy family, he’s suddenly thrust into the spotlight one night at a local hockey match when he takes down a rowdy player with one head butt. Impressed, one of the team coaches decides to give him a try out as an enforcer because, while he can barely skate, he certainly knows how to fight.
Alongside Baruchel and Scott, the cast also includes Liev Schreiber and Scott Pilgrim’s Alison Pill.
US readers will get to see it in cinemas on March 30 (and it’ll be out on-demand before that on February 24), but there’s no word on a UK release yet.
