After running away from a big bad wolf in Red Riding Hood and running a hell of a lot with Justin Timberlake for In Time, you might think Amanda Seyfried would want to find a movie where she just sits in a chair a lot. But no luck yet – in the new thriller Gone, she plays a young woman constantly trying to stay one step of law enforcement as she hunts down a killer. Take a look at the trailer below.
Seyfried is Jill Parrish, who returns home from working the night shift to discover that her sister Molly (Emily Wickersham) is missing. Fearing the worst, Jill worries that Molly’s been snatched the same psychopath who kidnapped and nearly killed Jill the year before.
Trouble is, there seems to be no evidence of the man, and the police (including Daniel Sunjata and Katherine Moenning) don’t believe he actually exists. So does Jill give it up as a bad idea and stay at home? Of course not! With her sister’s life on the line, she naturally goes all out to save her. Even if it puts her own life at risk once more…
From the looks of this, director Heitor Dhalia has crafted a fairly by-the-numbers thriller that follows some pretty well trodden paths. Here’s hoping he’s found a new route. Gone is out on February 24, 2012.
