Your average romantic comedy finishes once the couple meets, has the big kiss and the credits roll - but there are only so many variations on that well-trodden path. So some movies now take a look at the part of the story that comes next, with I Give It A Year focusing on a couple facing the struggles of their first 12 months of matrimony. The trailer has arrived above.
Nat (Rose Byrne) is an ambitious, picky high-flyer who met struggling novelist Josh (Rafe Spall) at a party. They’ve been deliriously happy despite their obvious differences. But even at their wedding, friends, family and complete strangers expressed surprise that it would ever work out. And now, with pressure from within and without (in the shape of Josh’s attractive ex Chloe, played by Anna Faris, and Nat being courted by Simon Baker’s handsome American), can they make it to the first anniversary?
This one looks like it could be a good ‘un, with appearances from the likes of Stephen Merchant (who no one will ask to make a speech at their wedding after this), Minnie Driver, Jason Flemyng and Olivia Colman, this certainly on our To-See list for 2013. It’ll arrive here on February 8.
