After news of its title change emerged earlier in the week,** Edge Of Tomorrow** - the movie formerly known as 'All You Need Is Kill' - has a new Comic-Con poster to seal the deal.
Judging by this, our heroes will pack some serious firepower in the film, not to mention mech suits that resemble heavy-armed powerloaders. There's a clue or two about what - or who - our heroes will be facing in the film: a breed susceptible to knives as well as bullets. Flesh and acid blood? Time will tell.
Like Starship Troopers meets Groundhog Day, Edge Of **Tomorrow **pitches Tom Cruise's sci-fi warrior Bill Cage into a seemingly unending loop of battle-death-regeneration-repeat. Alongside him is Emily Blunt, a fellow officer fighting as humanity tries to battle a race of invading aliens that seem to possess the ability to control time.
We’re headed for an all-but inevitable defeat until Cruise figures out a time-travel loop, which means he dies in battle again and again, but learns something new each time, and tries to crack the secret to beating the extra-terrestrial nasties. Bill Murray would probably just have bought them all a drink.
The switch from a curiosity-piquing title to something that sounds like A.N.Other genre piece is disappointing, if hardly surprising given Hollywood's currently risk-averse form. Perhaps they thought it would get mixed up with All You Need Is Krill, our new thriller set in the Icelandic fishing industry? In which case, smart call Hollywood. Smart call.
**Edge Of Tomorrow **will be with us in June 2014. Look out for much more from the floor of the 'Con.
