Zack Snyder's pretty much finished work on Watchmen, so now he's free to focus owlishly on the owl-tacular Guardians of Ga'Hoole, his animated fantasy movie currently in production in Australia.
It was previously rumoured that Hugh Jackman, Hugo Weaving and Ryan Kwanten (of TV's True Blood) would be joining the cast, but that seems to have been only a rumour. Today it's been announced that 21's Jim Sturgess, living legend Geoffrey Rush, Transformers' Rachael Taylor and 300's David Wenham will provide voices for the film - although their roles are not yet confirmed.
The film's based on the book series by Kathryn Lasky, about an owlet called Soren who's kidnapped by the bad owls of St Aggie's, who try to brainwash him into becoming a soldier for them. He and others escape to join the Guardians of Ga'Hoole and fight back against the nefarious enemy. John Collee (Master and Commander; Happy Feet) and John Orloff (A Mighty Heart) wrote the script adaptation.
