We’re not saying that, what with American taking the day off for Thanksgiving, today is a slow news day, but when we’re leaping on a story about Italian director Gabriele Muccino heading back to his homeland to direct a new movie, you should be able to draw your own conclusions.
Muccino, whose last two movies – **The Pursuit Of Happyness **and the upcoming Seven Pounds - were both made in America with Will Smith in the lead, is heading back to Italy to direct a sequel to his breakout hit, L’Ultimo Bacio, better known as The Last Kiss.
That, of course, was remade for the English language market with Zach Braff in the lead role as a guy torn between a steady relationship and the thrill of a new romance. We’re pretty sure, though, that there won’t be a sequel to that. Actually, we’re also kinda hoping, but anyway…
Muccino has reunited the original cast for the sequel, which will be called Baciami Ancora, or Kiss Me Again, and will focus on the lives of Stefano Accorsi’s Carlo and Giovanna Mezzogiorno’s Giulia some ten years after the last movie left off.
Muccino is writing the screenplay, with shooting scheduled to start in Rome come the spring.
