G.I Joe Spot At The Superbowl

It's Miller time!

G.I Joe Spot At The Superbowl

Half-time at the glorious gridiron that is the Super Bowl offered a first glimpse of G.I. Joe: The Rise Of Cobra and, boy, does it look bad. Whether that's bad as in good, or bad as in Stealth, we're still not sure, but there are some promising signs. Ok, most of them involve Sienna Miller's catsuit, but there's also sinister-looking Christopher Eccleston as arms-dealer-and-Cobra-operative Destro, and some fairly schmicko CG to pique our interest prior to the August release.

Proceedings kick off in tremendous style, with Miller's stilettoed legs emerging from a Bentley as Cobra operative The Baroness, before plunging her, and us, into Destro's sinister lair to witness him concoct mind-warpingly evil schemes. These kick off with the destruction of popular French landmark The Eiffel Tower. Have some more of that, surrender monkeys.

Suitably chastened, General Hawk, Dennis Quaid's G.I Joe head honcho, is forced to summon his crack special forces team into action, cueing an orgy of locking-and-loading from Ripcord (Marlon Wayans) and Duke (Channing Tatum), monster explosions and some distinctly ropey dialogue ("What did you say your unit was called?", "I didn't!").

In short, it's loud, proud and suitably OTT. But will it make those little plastic toys proud? And, more importantly, will it get you to the cinema?
