What would you do if your troubled brother got into some serious difficulties with the local criminal element and an underground fighting ring? Well, if you’re in a film – particularly if you’re Christian Bale in a film – you go after the people responsible. That’s the basis behind Out Of The Furnace, which has just put a trailer on Apple.
Bale is Russell Baze, a man with a rough life: he works a dead-end blue collar job at the local steel mill by day to provide for his girlfriend Lena (Zoe Saldana), and cares for his terminally ill father (Sam Shepard) by night.
When Russell's brother Rodney (Casey Affleck) returns home from serving time in Iraq, he gets lured into one of the most ruthless crime rings in the Northeast and mysteriously disappears. The police fail to crack the case, so, with nothing left to lose, Russell takes matters into his own hands, putting his life on the line to seek justice for his brother against big thug Curtis DeGroat (Woody Harrelson).
The film has Forest Whitaker and Willem Dafoe also in the impressive cast, with Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder providing musical backing (that’s the band’s moody Release playing over the trailer). {Out Of The Furnace Images}
