Though the studio hoped that **Frozen **would continue its successful streak, even Disney was blindsided by the phenomenon spawned by last year’s wintry hit. Despite being caught unprepared for the frenzy, the Mouse House is now planning to further capitalize on the film with a new short, Frozen Fever.

Announced during a TV special about the making of the film that screened in the US last night, Frozen Fever will see the return of Elsa (Idina Menzel), Anna (Kristen Bell) and Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) as Anna’s birthday rolls around. Her sister and friends (you can bet Josh Gad’s Olaf will also be involved, given that he was one of the breakout characters from the movie) are planning to give her the best celebration ever, but Elsa’s ice powers cause more trouble.

Co-writers/directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee are once again in charge, with Oscar-winning songwriters Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez crafting an all-new song for the short. No release date was offered beyond a general 'spring next year', nor was there any announcement about which film it’ll be attached to. And sorry, horror fans, it won’t be a crossover with Adam Green’s frosty 2010 death fest.

Also part of the show was a new, longer clip from the studio's new superhero 'toon Big Hero 6, due in the UK on January 30. Take a look below.
