The original teaser trailer for Battle: Los Angeles, released near the end of last year, led to some seriously split opinions. Some thought it looked like just another generic alien invasion pic, while others enjoyed the frenetic pace and effective soundtrack cues. The new trailer, which you can gawk at below, isn’t likely to change minds on either side as it offers up more of the same. But it does offer more…
Battle finds Aaron Eckhart as a Marine staff sergeant thrust into the forefront of a battle against powerful extraterrestrial types who have decided, much after the fashion of the bulging-brained aliens from Mars Attacks, that our planet is very nice and that they’ll take it.
This latest trailer kicks off with some very Inception-esque horn blasts as a meteor shower turns out to be the nasty aliens landing in the ocean off the coast of Los Angeles (and, as it turns out, around the world) and launching an all-out assault.
Director Jonathan Liebesman has since moved on to even bigger things, winning the coveted gig of making Clash sequel Wrath of the Titans. Assuming “coveted” is the right word in that case.
