After the crushing disappointment of being forced out of the action-hero pantheon due to a scheduling conflict, ex-Expendable Forest Whitaker is keeping himself busy, adding a sixth - yup, sixth - film to his slate in the shape of Fox Searchlight's so-far untitled wedding comedy.
Whitaker joins America Ferrara and Comedy Central frontman Carlos Mencia for the production. It's directed and scripted by Rick Famuyiwa, who was last seen behind the camera of 2002's hip-hop-flava'ed romantic comedy Brown Sugar.
Famuyiwa's script is described as a 'clash-of-cultures' comedy and will see Whitaker and Mencia playing overbearing fathers who must put their differences aside to arrange the wedding of their daughter (Ferrera) and son in only two weeks.
We'll be seeing, and hearing, plenty of Whitaker in coming months, starting with the intriguing dystopia thriller Repossession Mambo and Spike Jonze's Where The Wild Things Are in which he voices huge-honked monster Ira.
