Joss Whedon has lined up some more cannon fodder, sorry, victims, sorry, actors for his new horror movie, The Cabin In The Woods.

Kristen Connolly, Chris Hemsworth (Kim off of that Home & Away!!!), Anna Hutchison, Fran Kranz and Jesse Williams have signed onto the film, joining the already-cast Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford.

As you might have already gathered, the new additions are young and pretty, a perfect counterpoint to the crinkly wrinkliness of Jenkins and Whitford – something that hasn’t been lost on Whedon. "Each of the 'kids' is unique, fascinating and talented, and like true friends, the group is more than the sum of its parts,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “These are people you care about, able to go toe to toe with the amazing actors we've corralled thus far, and not unpretty in the bargain. I can't wait to harm them.”

Boom and, indeed, boom. And that’s the only hint we’ve got so far that things might not turn out so well for the five new additions (incidentally, the number of characters who ventured to a cabin in the woods in the original Evil Dead was… five. Interesting).

After all, The Cabin In The Woods is shrouded in the kind of secrecy normally reserved for gigantic franchise movies. The plot is unknown, although we do know that a cabin in the woods plays a part. And character details aren’t exactly forthcoming.

But in Whedon we trust. Although it’s a bit harsh to give him all the credit for the movie – after all, he’s only co-writing and producing. It’s Cloverfield writer Drew Goddard who’s actually calling the shots on the movie, which is already going before the cameras. But it’s Whedon’s involvement that will stoke most excitement – the creator of Buffy and Angel finally tackling a big-screen scary fillum? Should be goooooood.

The Cabin In The Woods will open its doors on February 5 of next year.
